Class Dojo and Konstella

We use two services to keep families updated.

Class Dojo has important updates about events and insights from your child's teacher. You can message staff directly, catch up on photos posted and stay in the know on the lesson plans for the month.

Our PA uses Konstella to generate our parent directory along with creating a digital space for parents to connect either by classroom or by topic. We maintain both our events calendar and the DOE calendar so that more information is in one place. Konstella allows many options for how you receive information and reminders through daily, weekly and monthly digests. Konstella also works with Google Translate; via the website, all information can be translated!

Konstella Sign-Up Process

DESKTOP:

  1. Go to https://www.konstella.com

  2. Click <Find Your School>

    • Search for PS 889 (it may be the last school to show up)

    • Select “PS 889 Elementary School” and click <Next>

  3. Enter your email, name, child’s name, and grade level 

    • Click <Submit>

    • (additional children may be added later)

  4. The PA will verify you have a child in the school

  5. You should receive a confirmation email once you are verified. From this email, you should be able to create a user account

 

​MOBILE APP:

  1. Download the Konstella app

  2. Click <Register>

  3. Click <enter your invitation code>

  4. Enter:

    • Your email

    • FUQNRF for the invitation code

    • Select your role (parent or teacher)

  5. The PA will verify you have a child in the school

  6. You should receive a confirmation email once you are verified. From this email, you should be able to create a user account

Update Your Profile

  • In the upper left corner, find the arrow just to the right of your name on a desktop, or find the settings “gear” icon on the mobile app to adjust your profile settings.

  • You may add in additional information, such as a profile picture, to make it easier for other parents / guardians to identify you and reach out to you.

  • You may also adjust privacy settings here for things such as keeping your email hidden, if you prefer.
     

Your Social Groups and Committees

  • When you first join, you should be a part of PS 889 Elementary School, as well as the grade level of your child that you entered when you first signed up.

  • Under the “PS 889 Elementary School” tab (or “School” tab on mobile), you can see the “Feed”, which are messages that are sent out by the PA.

​

  • Under the “Directory” tab, you may search for other classrooms, committees, or social groups that you’d like to join. Note that not all of these may be active.

​

  • You may send messages within the message board of any of the committees, social groups, or classrooms that you are part of. Select the group on the left side on your desktop, or select the “Messages” tab on the bottom of the mobile version to do so.

​

  • You can also use the directory to search for individuals who are on the Konstella app, and you may message them directly within the app or from the site.
     

Translations

  • We are trying to make as many of our communications as possible to be available in multiple languages. 

​

  • Additionally, Konstella has a built-in translation feature on the desktop version, and you may select your language in the bottom left corner on your computer. This is currently not available on the mobile application.
