Our popular and flexible after-school program is offered Mondays-Fridays, 2:30-6:00PM at PS 889. Students will participate in recreational sport activities, receive homework help, and enjoy a nutritious snack.
Students who attend Sports United after-school will remain at PS 889.

Our PS 889 Dance Explorers will experiment with various styles of dance throughout the year, taking each style one unit at a time and learning choreography that dancers can perform in Dance Parade NYC (older dancers only, based on the distance required) and for local fairs. No experience needed! An extension of our camp programming, Dance Explorers will provide a wonderful introduction to dance for new dancers and complement technique classes at the studio as well.

From complete beginners to advancing tournament players our goal is that all PS 889 players can experience both the joy & significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess. Our PS 889 Team will prepare for local, City, State & National Competitions. Our in-person programming will match players into groups based on skill, interest level & age. This allows coaches to identify and create the right training environment for each player (complete beginner - advanced competitors).

Providing programs that include extra time for help with homework, performing and visual arts, physical education, and more enables us to close the opportunity gap that many students face. Creating a seamless day between traditional school and our after-school programs enhances learning, and supports social and emotional growth in our participants.

Kids Orbit operates full scale after school programs. We are warm and welcoming, providing children with a family-like atmosphere for their after school hours. We offer the kind of flexibility that our families need. We supervise homework and offer a variety of enrichment activities ranging from yoga and sports to art, music and drama. We sit quietly and read and draw. We play board games with our friends. We laugh and have a lot of fun.

The Craft Salon is a multi-disciplinary arts and crafts studio in Kensington, Brooklyn. We offer a robust after school program, school holiday camps, summer camp, adult workshops, and more. We pride ourselves on elevated craft projects that we take special care in planning. All of our teachers are also artists, each has their own unique creative flair to share. We explore every type of art and craft available - fiber arts, paper, clay, jewelry, machine and hand sewing, and last year we even threw cooking and gardening into the mix! There is nothing we won’t try!
After-School class hours are from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 pm. If you choose after-school pickup, your child will be picked up from school at dismissal by one of their staff members and walked to the studio for a snack and free drawing/crafts/homework time until beginning their project.

Viva Art Studio’s afterschool program blends creativity and bilingual learning through hands-on art projects, sensory play, and collaborative activities. Our goal is to give kids a safe and inspiring space to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with one another.
Currently offering after-school pick-up from PS 889 Wednesday through Friday.
However, Thursday group is completely full at the moment.
They still have space on Wednesdays for K–2 and on Fridays for Grades 2–4.

Creative After School Cohort is more than just an after school. It is an enjoyable place for students in K thru 6th grade to enjoy playing soccer with classmates, schoolmates and meet other students in their communities and explore the world around them.

Rosebud Art Studio is joining hands with PS889 and launching its afterschool art program at the PS 889 campus for the 2024-25 school year! Our After school program for the students of PS 889 is on Wednesday-Program Gustav Klimt. Students will explore two-dimensional and three-dimensional media using drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture materials and tools. Students will also work on the pottery wheel all through the year.
After-School Programs begin at 3.00 PM and concludes at 6.00 PM on a typical day. (Students will assemble at the designated location by 2.30 PM. Students will have a snack break between 2.45 PM and 3.00 PM. Students will bring their own snack from home). Students can choose to attend a 2-hour or a 3-hour class according to their preference. A one-year commitment is required and a 6 month payment plan is available. An extended payment plan, could be made available upon request. Rolling admissions are offered all through the school year.

STEM-focused, project-based afterschool program! They offer an engaging, hands-on environment where students explore science, technology, engineering, and math through daily guided projects and structured enrichment. Each day includes both STEM-based activities and homework support, with all materials provided.
Each day of the week follows a specific theme, with projects and activities centered around that focus. These themes guide the week’s learning and allow students to dive deeper into key STEM concepts through hands-on experimentation and creative challenges.

After-school classes offer a mix of free building, engaging thematic projects, and STEM building prompts. Students will have access to our huge collection of LEGO pieces to inspire and create their LEGO masterpieces. Examples of themes include outer space, LEGO construction, under the sea, castles and knights, and more.

Get your scientist off to a great start this Fall with hands-on science. Kid-tested and teacher approved classes at The Tiny Scientist interweave state standards and jaw dropping fun. Your scientist will be conducting experiments, learning new concepts, discussing observations with friends, analyzing data, making a mess and learning just how much fun science can be!
